Hummingbird Farms | About Us

Inspired by their own fields of lavender and a copper steam distiller, Hummingbird Farms owners Jack and Debi Williams, wholeheartedly embraced the development of natural and authentic products that represent the tradition and values of American agriculture. Alongside hayfields and longhorns, their goal of creating value-added products from sustainable acreage of lavender was realized in 2006 with the launch of their first line of aromatherapy lavender body care.

What began as a romantic dream over ten years ago, Jack and Debi visited the Hill Country often where they appreciated the slower pace of life in a world that is constantly changing. Realizing the values learned from their grandfathers, both full-time farmers, and their shared love of the land, Jack and Debi's dream began to take shape when they were able to purchase a historical farm in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.

Soon after moving to the farm a health crisis heightened Debi's interest of common ingredients found in cosmetics and body care products. It was at this time that she immersed herself in knowledge of standard cosmetic ingredients. Often concerned with her findings, Debi became passionate about creating natural and elegant body care products that reflect the character of the region along with the traditional techniques and ingredients of the past. What began as plans to grow herbs on a small family farm in Texas, evolved into a responsibility to better body care products to ensure the well-being of the body, mind, and spirit.

Hummingbird Farms is nestled between Johnson City and Fredericksburg in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Lavender was first grown at Hummingbird Farms in 2003; however, this working farm has a history spanning over 100 years. The John N. Seguin family was the first family to break ground here in 1897, followed by another pioneering family, the Schaefer family of Hye, Texas. A prominent San Antonio businessman later used the farm as a cattle ranch for his prized Texas Longhorns. Rich in history, tradition, and fertile ground, it is comforting to know that values endure at Hummingbird Farms.
